Gulf Voice of Mangalore - Season 6 : Qatar auditions on June 8

Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), ace cultural association of Doha Qatar, is gearing up to host the preliminary round of Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) Season 6, on Friday, June 8, at Indian Cultural Center (ICC) from 6.30pm onwards.

MCA, Qatar invites applications for the GVOM-6 auditions from Mangalurean Konkani singers above 18 years of age residing in Qatar.

After the auditions, six male and six female singers will be selected for the semi-finals. The Gulf Voice of Mangalore competition is open to all Konkani speaking people of Mangalurean origin, holding a valid Qatar residence visa, born on or before June 10, 1998.

The title holders of the previous five GVOMs are restricted from participating in this season. The runners-up of all the seasons are allowed to compete for the title this year.

Rules for auditions:

1. Interested contestants to participate in the Gulf Voice of Mangalore should register online. Application forms provided in Daijiworld should be filled and submitted online.

2. Passport copies and the valid residence permit copies should be submitted later on request as proof of their age and residency.

3. The contestant should be 18 years of age on or before the preliminary round competition date i.e. 08 June 2018.

4. Visit visa holders are not eligible for the competition.

5. The title holders of the previous five GVOM’s will be restricted from participating in this season. The runners-up of the previous five seasons are permitted to compete for the title in this season.

6. The song not to exceed 3 minutes from the start of the song.

7. Only acoustic/box guitar shall be allowed during the preliminary rounds. Electronic instruments sequence/minus track shall NOT be allowed.

8. All songs should be sung in Konkani and from memory.

9. The songs to be sung should be from any of the released Mangalorean Konkani Album only.

10. A panel of judges will judge competition and their decision is final and binding.

11. Organizers reserve the right to amend/cancel the event with prior notice in case of insufficient entries or for any other reason.

12. Judging Criteria: The judges will take into account the special characteristics of song recital as an artistic partnership between singers and will consider the following:

The semi-finals of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season-6 will be held on 21 September, 2018 at the Hotel Holiday Inn from 4:00 pm onwards. One male and one female finalist from Qatar will be selected on this day and they will participate in the GVOM grand finale which will be held in Kuwait on November 9, 2018.

GVOM which was initiated by Lawrence Pinto and Late Louis Rodrigues from Kuwait in 2008 has become a popular event among Mangaloreans worldwide. It’s the only Inter-Gulf Konkani Reality Singing Competition.
